When to update WordPress

Take a backup first. Then update the core, open the page, then step through the plugins one by one. If one opens a white page, turn that plugin off and leave the others.

Do not leave the update for the day of a live campaign. A small maintenance hour is enough. Install sits in cPanel on Linux, and in Plesk on Windows when Toolkit is on. The path is on the hosting card.
